Dress accordingly II

It's summer time once again and the girls can't wait to show off their new summer wardrobe! A wardrobe full of sun dresses, bermuda shorts and cute tank tops would make almost any girl's day. Because most girls would be fine with that wardrobe, that's what is seen everywhere as soon as spring rolls around. But when the middle of summer hits and the hot July sun beams down on the one spot that it seems like you are standing that when girls become a bit outrageous with their clothes.

There is nothing wrong with a few short shorts or a halter here or there, but lets be serious. If any female over the age of 18 has shorts and halters as her everyday wardrobe it's definitely time to dress accordingly. Most sun dresses are a lot lighter making them cooler than the heavy cut-off jeans. While the jeans or shorts can range anywhere from $20-$60, I haven't had to buy a sundress i really for over $35. Not only are they cool and inexpensive, they are stylish they can be dressed up or down and worn almost anywhere. So the next time you think about putting on those short shorts grab a sun dress instead.

What not to wear

I am a firm beliver that a person's outer apperancce can have an major affect on their outlook on themselves. That being said recently I have gotten into a show called what not to wear. The show has viewers who choose someone in their life who is extremely out of the loop as far as fashion. Being that I love to shop this show was right up my alley.

The show starts off by Clinton and London grabbing their unsuspecting victim telling them of their fashion faux pas and giving them rules to shop by depending on thier body type. I suspect that both Clinton and London take much time to choose which body type cooresponds with what article of clothing etc. What I really enjoy about the show is the fact that at the end the 'ex' victim is changed, and has more confidence in who they are. It proves that one's outward appearance may have a large impact on how they feel.

natural beauty

Have you ever noticed that when you have on a plain t-shirt with jeans a couple of accessories and hair pulled to the back is when most of the compliments come swarming in?

Well it could be because natural beauty along with the perfect accessory is on a comeback. The big gaudy jewelery is no longer attractive to men or women. Women are starting to stray away from it more and go towards a simpler look.

Not only is the simple look inexpensive but it is also a way of acknowledging one's own beauty and taking features that that they may like about themselves and making it shine more than ever. Embrace your natural beauty!

Back to the Future

Do you ever get the feeling when you walk in to a store or any random place that you have just stepped into a scene from grease and in any moment there will be some sort of spontaneous song and coordinated dance?

Going to a small town just out of St. Louis made me have this exact feeling. As soon as I saw the inhabitants I peeked around every corner to see if John Travolta was going to pop out. To my surprise he didn't, but I was just so amazed at how many mullets can cram themselves into one gas station. Mullets, Mullets just the mention of one makes me want to do something CRAZY!

There was nothing wrong with the people there they may have actually been some of the nicest people that I have met within a small town, they were just different. I guess every city has its own "thing" going, and maybe if they were to come to St. Louis they would think the same thing, but the Mullets were just everywhere.

Mullets....Now don't you want to do something crazy?

Stay away from the $300 pair of jeans

While at home in St. Louis, Mo. I always drive by this little boutique, I've never actually been in, but I was waiting on a friend to meet for lunch so I decided that I would go ahead and stop in. The name of the boutique is I am....!

I loved this shop! They have everything from necklaces to jeans, they have kids' clothes, men's clothes and women's clothes. The boutique is more of a denim boutique and I firmly believe that no one can have too much denim, but what price is acceptable for a pair of jeans? Needless to say that I walked out with two pairs of jeans for an outrageous amount, but should the quality of a jean effect the price by hundreds of dollars? Before you reach a conclusion think about the highest amount of money that you have used to purchase a pair of jeans, and then compare it to your cheapest pair, which pair lasted longer?

I am infatuated with jeans almost as much as I am with shoes. I've spent almost $300 on one pair of jeans, and those were discounted. They have lasted me a long time, but the question is: Is it worth it? I'm going to say "no" on this one. No $300 pair of jean is worth buying at all, because in a few weeks they will be just like all the other jeans in a closet with the tag because there is nothing else in the closet that is worth wearing them with!

Fashion state of mind

When people describe fashion they usually think of an outerwear maybe a cute outfit to go out in or something classy to wear to work or school. But what if fashion is something more. What if fashion is a state of mind, what if the way a person dressed made them feel different on the inside?

I like to consider myself to be quite the fashionista if you will, but there has been many times, and there still are times when I just don't feel like getting dressed. I'm sure many people have woke up in the morning dreading the thought of going to school or work and so they don't take as much time for themselves preparing for their daily routine.

Personally, when I get up in the morning and I find myself to be overwhelmingly tired, in a bad mood or just don't feel like being bothered, I don't take as much time out for myself as I should, and in turn I throw on anything. When I throw on just anything, I walk around looking like "just any 'old' thing," and I feel like it too. This may not be true for all people but I know when I dress in a professional manner I feel like a professional, and I may not have done anything that entire day but when all is said and done, I feel good about myself.

A little overdressed?

I know that I've once said to dress accordingly, but do those who consider themselves to dress accordingly, are they in fact overdressing?
I absolutely hate when I and my friendsa or my boyfriend and I go out and we are dressed in a pair of jeans and shirts (nothing too fancy) and someone comes waltzing into the same bar practically dressed in prom attire. Really... what is that about? I would never walk into any smoke filled place whether it be a night club, restaurant or bar in my best dressed. Not only would I be out of place but I would leave out smelling like an ashtray in some designer clothes and be highly upset.
I know that i said dress accordingly, but who's to say that dressing accordingly is always a pair of slacks and high heels. Dressing accordingly is dressing according to your surroundings, dressing for success in the atmosphere you will be in. Dressing accordingly doesn't mean pull out your nearest ball gown and go bowling! Dress accordingly!
